About

Overview & Philosophy

The WT Commerce Suite is the ideal, unified solution for the three most vital online economic activities: e-shops, room bookings, and professional appointments.

It was engineered specifically as a simple, economical, and secure solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

This suite represents a revolutionary mechanism for small-medium companies, empowering them to scale without friction. It stands on a foundation of code and UX simplicity, backed by the trust of Web-Thread expertise, the enterprise stability of Drupal, and the secure financial infrastructure of Viva.com

It is a lightweight, high-performance ecosystem built to solve a common problem in the web development space: the massive overhead, database bloat, and timezone bugs associated with traditional e-commerce and booking frameworks.

The philosophy is simple: Decouple the logic. Keep the math stable, keep the database clean, separate the calendar from the checkout, and securely hand off the heavy lifting to the bank.

Rather than creating complex "Sub-Product Variations" or heavy calendar entities, this suite leverages native Drupal fields, mathematical server-side validation, and secure session management. It seamlessly handles physical & digital products, overnight hotel stays, and sliced hourly appointments—all through a unified, smart slide-out shopping cart connected to the Viva.com Smart Checkout portal.

The WT Commerce Suite is proudly 100% open-source. You can review the codebase, grab the Composer installation command, and download the latest stable release directly from our official Drupal repository.

The Modular Architecture:
Build Exactly What You Need

At the heart of the ecosystem is the WT Simple Pay engine, a lightweight core that securely handles the slide-out cart, session management, and Viva Wallet transactions. From there, you act as the architect—simply enable the specific extensions your business requires. Use them completely independently for a laser-focused website, or combine them to build a dynamic hybrid storefront.

  • The Pure E-Shop (Physical & Digital Goods): Just need to sell products? Use the core module by itself. Sell physical items with intelligent variable shipping rates, custom delivery methods (like Courier or "Box Now"), and automated free-shipping thresholds. Selling e-books or services? Instantly toggle our 'Digital-Only Mode' to completely bypass shipping calculations and physical address collection for a frictionless, lightning-fast checkout.
  • The Hotel System (Nightly Room Bookings): Running a boutique hotel or B&B? Enable the WT Simple Booking extension. Rent out rooms by the night with bulletproof availability checks. The cart automatically detects it is a digital booking and hides physical shipping requirements from the customer.
  • The Appointment System (Hourly Slots): Running a clinic, salon, or consultancy? Enable the WT Slot Booking extension. Schedule professionals by the hour or minute using raw, timezone-safe server mathematics that prevent accidental double-bookings.
  • The Ultimate Hybrid Store: Do it all at once. Allow a customer to buy a physical bottle of massage oil, book a 60-minute spa appointment, and reserve a weekend wellness suite. All three completely different entity types funnel into one unified shopping cart for a single, frictionless checkout.

The Competitive Pitches

The "Anti-Subscription" Pitch (vs. Shopify/SaaS): With Shopify or FareHarbor, you are renting your business. You pay monthly fees, app subscriptions, and percentage cuts of your own hard-earned sales. The WT Commerce Suite gives you 100% ownership of your code, your customer data, and your checkout experience, with zero monthly software fees. Pair that with Viva Wallet, and your payment processing fees can drop to near zero.

The "Anti-Complexity" Pitch (vs. Drupal Commerce): Drupal Commerce is an incredible tool for multi-national retailers with complex warehouses. But if you just want to sell a consultation, book a room, and sell a t-shirt, it is massive overkill that requires immense database overhead. The WT Commerce Suite was engineered to be lean. We stripped out the bloat and decoupled the logic, giving you enterprise-grade performance without the enterprise-grade maintenance headache.

The "Anti-Penalty" Pitch (vs. BigCommerce): BigCommerce actively punishes you for succeeding. The moment your sales volume crosses a certain threshold, they force you into a higher, more expensive monthly pricing tier. Booking a hotel room or an hourly appointment requires clunky third-party workarounds. With the WT Commerce Suite, your costs do not skyrocket just because you had a great sales month, and bookings are treated as first-class citizens.

The "Anti-Enterprise Bloat" Pitch (vs. Adobe Commerce / Magento): Magento is like buying an 18-wheeler truck to deliver a pizza. It requires a massive, expensive server just to keep it from crashing, and a full-time development team to maintain it. The WT Commerce Suite gives you the same level of data ownership and professional B2B flexibility, but with an ultra-lean architecture that runs lightning-fast on standard hosting.

The "Anti-Rigid" Pitch (vs. Wix eCommerce): Wix is great for a weekend hobbyist, but terrible for a growing business. Their ecosystem is closed: you don't own your code, their visual builder creates slow-loading websites, and their 'Wix Stores' and 'Wix Bookings' apps often feel like two completely different systems. The WT Commerce Suite is a professional, unified engine giving your customers a seamless checkout experience.

Who is the WT Commerce Suite For?

The modern web is hybrid. Today’s businesses don't just sell items in a box, and they don't just book time on a calendar—they do both. The WT Commerce Suite is designed for small-to-medium businesses (SMBs), startups, and entrepreneurs who need to combine physical retail, hourly appointments, and overnight bookings into one seamless checkout experience.

Here are just a few industries that thrive on our unified platform:

Health, Beauty & Wellness

  • Hair Salons & Barbershops: Allow clients to book a 45-minute haircut and add a physical bottle of styling pomade to the exact same shopping cart.
  • Medical Clinics & Therapists: Securely schedule hourly telehealth consultations or in-person therapy sessions without worrying about server timezone bugs shifting the appointment times.
  • Day Spas & Massage Therapists: Clients can book a weekend retreat, schedule an afternoon massage slot, and purchase organic skincare products in a single Viva.com transaction.

Hospitality, Tourism & Rentals

  • Boutique Hotels & Bed & Breakfasts: Ditch the expensive, bloated hotel aggregator plugins. Manage room inventory smoothly and let guests pre-purchase welcome baskets or airport transfers during room checkout.
  • Tour Guides & Excursion Planners: Sell tickets for a 4-hour city walking tour while simultaneously selling physical branded merchandise, like t-shirts and travel guides.
  • Equipment Rentals: Perfect for surf shops or ski lodges where customers need to book gear for specific dates and buy physical consumables (like surf wax or hand warmers).

Professional Consultants & Freelancers

  • Lawyers & Financial Advisors: Stop chasing invoices. Use our Digital-Only Mode to let clients quickly prepay for a 60-minute legal consultation without the friction of entering a physical shipping address.
  • IT Support & Tech Consultancies: Sell digital service packages or book remote debugging sessions by the hour, allowing clients to pay securely via credit card or IRIS.
  • Personal Trainers & Yoga Instructors: Book one-on-one training sessions and sell physical fitness gear (resistance bands, protein powder, or branded apparel) from one unified storefront.

Startups & Modern Retailers

  • Artisan Crafters & Makers: Sell handmade pottery or jewelry with standard shipping rates, backed by built-in GDPR compliance that automatically manages European data privacy consents.
  • Local Boutiques & Pop-up Shops: Leverage our flexible delivery architecture to offer flat-rate shipping for distant customers and "Pay at Reception / Pick up in Store" for local foot traffic.
  • Specialty Food & Bakeries: Allow customers to order physical baked goods for delivery, or book a consultation slot to design a custom wedding cake.

Education & Tutoring

  • Private Tutors & Language Schools: Schedule weekly 1-hour language lessons and allow students to purchase required physical textbooks at the same time.
  • Music Teachers: Book piano or guitar lessons while selling physical sheet music and instrument accessories.

When NOT to Use the WT Commerce Suite

We built the WT Commerce Suite to be a razor-sharp scalpel, not a Swiss Army Knife. If your goal is a lightning-fast, highly-profitable hybrid storefront, there is no better platform. However, we gladly refer clients to heavier platforms if they require:

Granular, SKU-Level Inventory Management: The WT suite handles stock via a simple "Out of Stock" checkbox. It is not built to decrement 5 Small Red shirts across three different physical warehouses. That requires massive database overhead.

Real-Time Carrier Shipping Calculations: The suite features a flat-rate shipping engine. It does not bounce API calls off FedEx servers to calculate volumetric weight, which adds seconds to the checkout load time.

Complex Global Taxation & Non-European Currencies: The suite passes a final, unified amount in the merchant's local supported currency (Euro, GBP, RON, etc.) directly to Viva Wallet. While global customers can easily pay using their local US Dollar ($) or Japanese Yen (¥) credit cards, the storefront itself is not built to dynamically toggle between international display currencies or calculate live exchange rates. Furthermore, if you require dynamic US State Sales Tax calculations or complex Avalara/TaxJar API integrations, you need a monolithic platform.

Recurring Subscriptions & Deep Customer Dashboards: The suite utilizes a fast, anonymous, session-based checkout model. It is not built to save credit card tokens and run complex background cron engines for "Subscribe & Save" boxes.

Multi-Vendor Marketplaces: It is a single-merchant system. It is not built for Etsy/Airbnb split-payment commission routing.

Core Features

Universal Slide-Out Cart & Digital-Only Mode: Fast, accessible, session-based cart drawer that automatically detects digital goods (Dates/Appointments) and hides physical shipping requirements dynamically. Features a global "Digital-Only" toggle to completely bypass shipping and physical address collection for service-based businesses.

Automated Receipts & Native Calendar Sync: Sends pristine, plain-text-optimized order confirmations that dynamically extract purchased item URLs and deduplicate cart data. Automatically generates and injects smart "Add to Google/Outlook Calendar" deep-links ([Item Title] | [Site Name]) for all bookings, completely bypassing Drupal Core's HTML-stripping quirks.

Smart Zero-Cost Routing: Automatically detects €0.00 carts (e.g., Free Consultations or Quote Requests), cleanly hides payment UIs, and safely bypasses the bank API to generate the appointment without errors.

Native Spam Protection: Built-in, cache-safe honeypot field that silently blocks bot submissions without requiring external modules or user-facing CAPTCHAs.

GDPR & Frictionless Checkout: Built-in, translatable, and fully accessible GDPR/Privacy Policy consent enforcement. Natively captures the buyer's email and seamlessly passes it to the Viva Smart Checkout API for auto-pre-filling.

Form Resubmission Protection: Implements the Post/Redirect/Get (PRG) pattern across all forms to prevent duplicate cart additions on accidental browser refreshes.

Smart Product Variations: Built-in support for Sizes and Colors. Dynamically switches between select dropdowns and static text labels based on inventory, completely isolated from backend data ingestion via a secure $form_state vault.

AJAX Delivery Options: Support for up to 3 distinct delivery methods with live AJAX updates and a global Free Shipping threshold (for physical products).

Customizable Offline Payments: Rename the offline payment method to exactly fit your business model (e.g., "Cash on Delivery", "Pay at Clinic", or "Wire Transfer") with dynamic UI rendering.

Viva.com Integration: Secure OAuth2 API connection and asynchronous Webhook verification using strict cryptographic tokens to instantly mark orders and bookings as 'Paid'.

Native Multi-Currency & Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC): Expand your business globally without adding technical complexity. Because WT Commerce integrates directly with Viva.com Smart Checkout API, the system automatically supports international payments. When an international customer enters their credit card, the system instantly reads the card's origin and offers them the ability to pay in their local home currency. You do not need to configure complex exchange rates in Drupal; the system handles the conversion on the fly and settles the funds into your merchant account in your native currency.

Global Checkout with PayPal REST API (v2): Expand your storefront's global reach with our deeply integrated, enterprise-secure PayPal module. Built entirely on the modern PayPal REST API (v2), this feature seamlessly bridges the gap between your custom Drupal checkout flow and international buyers, allowing them to pay via their PayPal account or major credit cards.

Direct Bank Transfer (IRIS / IBAN) & Smart Discount Engine: Take control of your revenue by bypassing high third-party gateway fees. The Direct Bank Transfer feature allows you to accept offline payments via standard IBAN e-Banking or modern instant-transfer networks like IRIS. It pairs a frictionless user experience with powerful financial incentives.

Payment Infrastructure:
Why We Use Viva.com

After evaluating multiple payment gateways, we selected viva.com as our primary payment processor to handle our transaction infrastructure:

  • Cost Efficiency (Up to 0% Acceptance Fees): Viva.com offers a unique pricing model where our payment acceptance fees can be reduced to 0%. By utilizing their corporate debit card for daily business expenses, we earn back the fees charged on incoming customer transactions.
  • Next-Day Settlements: Unlike traditional banks that hold funds for several business days, Viva.com clears funds to our account daily—including weekends and public holidays—improving cash flow and liquidity.
  • High Conversion Rates (Smart Checkout): Their Smart Checkout technology dynamically adapts to the customer's location and device, automatically presenting the payment methods most likely to convert (Apple Pay, Google Pay, local European schemes).
  • Omnichannel Capabilities: "Tap to Pay" turns any Android or iOS device into a terminal without needing clunky legacy hardware.
  • Enterprise-Grade Security & Financial Peace of Mind One of the most significant stressors for any developer is the liability of handling financial data. WT Commerce Suite eliminates this burden by offloading the entire payment lifecycle to Viva.com, the first European tech bank. By utilizing Smart Checkout, sensitive card data never touches your Drupal database or server environment. The heavy lifting of PSD2 compliance, 3D Secure authentication, and GDPR data protection is managed by Viva's robust infrastructure. This allows you to focus on building great user experiences while having the "Peace of Mind" that your transactions are secured by a fully licensed European Neobank.

Global Reach:
Native PayPal Integration

While the WT Commerce Suite utilizes Viva.com's Smart Checkout to handle seamless credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay transactions, we understand that true global commerce requires familiarity. That is why our platform includes a deeply integrated, enterprise-secure PayPal module.

Trusted by the USA and the World For millions of buyers worldwide—and particularly across the United States—PayPal remains the gold standard for online payment security and convenience. By offering this universally recognized gateway alongside your local payment methods, you immediately build trust with international visitors and ensure that no customer abandons their cart simply because their preferred payment method is missing.

Built on Modern Architecture True to the WT Commerce Suite’s "anti-bloat" philosophy, this is not an outdated, clunky redirect plugin. Our integration is built entirely on the modern PayPal REST API (v2). It perfectly bridges the gap between our lightning-fast, custom Drupal slide-out cart and your global buyers.

Whether a user is buying a physical t-shirt from halfway across the world or booking an hourly remote consultation, they can securely complete the transaction using their PayPal balance or linked accounts with zero friction. You get the best of both worlds: the innovative European infrastructure of Viva.com, paired with the undisputed global familiarity of PayPal.

Why Drupal Core?
The Foundation of the Suite

The WT Commerce Suite was not built in a vacuum, nor was it built on consumer-level blogging software. It was engineered specifically as a native module for Drupal (running on the modern Symfony PHP framework).

  • The Entity & Field API: Drupal’s Entity API treats our custom wt_product, wt_room, and wt_service types as native, first-class citizens. The database architecture is handled flawlessly by Drupal core, allowing our suite to focus purely on the commerce logic.
  • Strict Object-Oriented Standards: Modern Drupal enforces strict object-oriented PHP and PSR coding standards. This eliminates "spaghetti code" and guarantees bank-level stability via dependency injection and secure form processing.
  • Twig Templating Engine: Strictly separates backend PHP logic from frontend HTML. This allows us to safely inject a {{ wt_add_to_cart_form }} directly into a product teaser without accidentally breaking underlying math or security.
  • Advanced Configuration Management: Drupal stores all system configurations in highly portable YAML files, allowing clean deployments across different server environments without database corruption.
  • Enterprise Security: Inherits Drupal's world-class security team, ensuring your customer data and checkout flows are protected against modern web vulnerabilities.
